Mukilteo budget talk

The city has scheduled a series of public hearings on the proposed 2012 budget.

Public hearings on the development of next year’s budget are scheduled at 7 p.m. Monday, 6 p.m. Tuesday and Nov. 28, and 7 p.m. Dec. 5.

Different departments will present their portions of the budget on different days. Mukilteo City Hall is at 11930 Cyrus Way.

See “The Crucible” in Edmonds

The Edmonds-Woodway High School drama department is set to present Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible.”

Performances are 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the school’s theater, 7600 212th St. SW, Edmonds.

Tickets are $7 or $5 for students with ASB cards, seniors and children.

The play is set during the Salem witch trials.

Buy arts and crafts for charity

Friends of Freeland, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making Freeland a better place to live, is inviting the community to an arts and crafts sale.

Proceeds benefit the group, which has worked to preserve wetlands and create safer walkways and bicycle trails.

The sale is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 3, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 at Freeland Hall, 1515 Shoreview Ave.

The benefit is in its eighth year.

Works by Whidbey Island artists will be for sale.
