Girl struck by car near Lake Stevens suffers serious injuries

LAKE STEVENS — A 14-year-old girl suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning after she was hit by a car south of Lake Stevens.
The accident occurred around 6:50 a.m. in the 11900 block of 20th Street SE.
The girl is a freshman at Snohomish High School and in the area to meet a school bus.
The girl was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection at the time of the accident, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.
The driver stopped and rendered aid until medics arrived, Prentiss said.
The teen was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. She was expected to be released later Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office collision investigation unit is handling the investigation.
No information about the driver was available.
