MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A photography exhibit by Mark Hopkins is on display at the Mountlake Terrace Library.

Hopkins conveys a unique style through his photography, from surreal hardscapes that accent the detail of his subjects, to his more traditional portraiture.

A lifelong Snohomish County resident and 11-year Mountlake Terrace resident, Hopkins brings two decades of film and digital photography experience to his art. His photographic passion was sparked by taking childhood pictures with his Kodak Instamatic X-15.

“I’ve always looked at everything around me as if looking through a lens,” Hopkins says. “I’m forever framing shots, gauging light and chasing shadows. Every memory is a photograph in my mind.”

His work draws viewers with his eye for composition and subject.
