Snohomish wrestlers win Panther Classic

SNOHOMISH — Snohomish won its own Panther Classic on Saturday, edging out Decatur by nine points with a score of 178. The 16-team tournament at Snohomish H.S. featured Glacier Peak, which finished 11th with 85 points, and Kamiak and Mariner, which finished in the last two spots with team scores of 46 and 18, respectively.

Snohomish had one wrestler place first in his weight class, Nathan Proffit, in the 195-pound grouping. Other notable finishers for the Panthers included Ammon Morrill, who finished second in his 160-pound class, and Lucas Reinhard and Mario Rojas, who finished second and third in the 220-pound weight class.

Glacier Peak’s Sean Elledge was second for 182-pound wrestlers, and teammate Timmy Douglass finished third in the 138-pound class. Jacob Elledge also finished in a third place spot for the Grizzlies, competing in the 145 pound weight class.
