Published 7:24 am Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Gov. Chris Gregoire is wasting no time in finding the right person to lead the state’s aerospace office.

Gregoire announced her plan last November to create an aerospace office director position in an effort to land the Boeing Co.’s 737 MAX jet in Washington state. The aerospace director will work with other state agencies, chair the governor’s aerospace council and support the state’s vibrant aerospace industry.

Applications for the new position were due Feb. 26.

Interviews already began yesterday, a spokeswoman for the governor’s office said.

The job announcement received 948 hits. Eleven people applied for the job. Three were deemed to have the skills necessary for the job. All three candidates reside in Washington.
