Divine judicial intervention: A judge granted a restraining order sought by Nike that blocks Reebok from selling any New York Jets football jerseys with new quarterback Tim Tebow’s number and name, after Nike won a contract to make and sell NFL merchandise.

Following the judge’s order, Nike lawyers dropped to one knee and thanked God for the ruling.

No, not that gecko: Herald Columnist James McCusker is taking another look at the 1987 movie “Wall Street” in which Michael Douglas’ character famously says, “Greed, for lack of a better word, is good.” McCusker points out that greed actually is a poor quality of which to build an economic system.

But perhaps we should have known better than to take advice from someone with slicked-back hair, suspenders, a patterned tie and a colored shirt with a white collar.

Had the bumperstickers ready: Governors from beef-producing states, including Texas Gov. Rick Perry, R-Miss Me Now?, toured the Omaha, Neb., plant where lean finely textured beef, otherwise known as “pink slime,” is made, hoping to rehabilitate the image of the maligned beef product.

So impressed with “pink slime” was Perry that he said he would have put it on the short list for a running mate had he won the GOP presidential nomination.
