Mmm, jellied eels

McDonald’s has built its biggest restaurant ever at the London Olympic Park, with seats for up to 1,500 diners. But the fast-food giant’s come under fire from British public health officials for serving its standard McMenu.

Now see here, old chaps: Big Macs and the like amount to health food compared with traditional Brit fare like eel pie, spotted dick and stuffed cod’s head.

Calorie count: In other culinary news, There’s at least one booming niche in the restaurant industry: “breastaurants,” which feature scantily clad waitresses.

These joints serve rib-stickin’ sports bar grub like nachos and burgers, which means the waitresses must never eat the food they serve.

Space cadets: A group that claimed responsibility for a small plane towing a swastika banner over New York City on Saturday says it was motivated not by anti-Semitism, but by a desire to resurrect the symbol’s more benign roots.

Unsurprising bonus fact of the day: The group, which calls itself the International Raelian Movement, also believes humans were created by extraterrestrials.
