BELLINGHAM — A 26-year-old woman who was shot in the chest as she answered a knock at her door Thursday morning in Bellingham is talking with police.
Spokesman Mark Young said there’s no official word on her condition at St. Joseph hospital but she’s giving officers information.
She said she was shot by a masked man about 9 a.m. when she opened the door to her duplex. She was able to call police.
Officers searched the neighborhood. They interviewed the woman’s male roommate and said he is not a suspect.
Young said officers also questioned a person of interest who was at work at the time of the shooting.
Investigators have no one in custody and no known motive, although Young says they are reasonable sure it was not a random attack.
