Kate Reardon resigns as Everett city spokeswoman

EVERETT — Kate Reardon resigned Tuesday from her job as Everett city spokeswoman, a post she has held for the past decade.

The wife of Aaron Reardon, former Snohomish County executive, said in a press release she was leaving to accept “a new and exciting career opportunity.”

“I’ve enjoyed working with all of you over the years in various capacities, and I look forward to working with you in the future in my new role,” she said in a statement.

She did not elaborate on where she was headed.

Former Everett Mayor Frank Anderson hired Kate Reardon in February 2003. Before that, she worked as a reporter at The Herald and other newspapers.

Aaron Reardon stepped down as county executive at the end of May, following a series of scandals. He has been secretive about his future plans, only saying that he is leaving public life. In recent days he has described himself on Twitter as a “husband, dad, investor, contract corporate analyst/advisor, life enthusiast. Retired politician.”
