DARRINGTON — Rescuers on Friday afternoon and evening were searching Darrington-area waterways after a reported possible drowning.
The search still was under way as of 5 p.m., Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Kathi Lang said. All police received was a brief 911 call about 2:08 p.m. that said “drowning, Darrington area,” she said.
The rescue operation was based in the 45200 block of Sauk Prairie Road, north of town.
No other information was immediately available.
As of about 8 p.m., no one had been found in the water. Police believe it may have been a false alarm, sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said.
