A wider Seattle Hill Road
The Snohomish County Council on Wednesday approved a plan for buying right-of-way property for future widening of Seattle Hill Road between 35th Avenue and 132nd Street SE, east of Mill Creek. Construction is expected in 2017.
The work would widen the road to three lanes, adding bicycle lanes, curbs, gutters, planter strips and sidewalks on both sides of the road.
The plan that passed Wednesday calls for buying 42 parcels and obtaining a permanent easement on five others. That’s expected to cost about $1.5 million.
(This article has been corrected to accurately state the location of the future road widening.)
Council post vacant: The Snohomish County Council is still trying to help Gold Bar fill a vacant City Council position, for the third time in a little over a year.
The vacancy was created by the February resignation of Elizabeth LaZella, whom the County Council had appointed to a vacant seat last year. The county received no response a month ago after it advertised for the same position. This time, the county is asking for letters of interest by the close of business on July 26.
Anyone interested must have lived within Gold Bar city limits for at least a year and be a registered voter at the time of appointment.
