County doles out funds for city parks

City parks from Mountlake Terrace to Arlington are benefiting from a half-million dollars worth of trails, benches, gazebos and lighting, thanks to grants from Snohomish County.

County leaders are making the rounds of seven cities to dole out ceremonial checks totalling $460,000.

The county money comes from taxes collected on real estate sales. It complements $4 million already invested at nine local parks. Amounts range from $10,000 to $80,000.

Here’s where it’s headed:

Arlington: $50,000 for new restrooms with full access for disabled patrons at Haller Park.

Edmonds: $80,000 for a playground, splash pad and ADA upgrades at Edmonds City Park.

Everett: $75,000 for new playground equipment at Henry M. Jackson Park.

Everett: $50,000 for new playground equipment at Hannabrook Park.

Lynnwood: $70,000 for an amphitheater renovation and ADA upgrades at Lynndale Park.

Marysville: $50,000 for a 10-foot-wide paved trail connecting the Bayview Trail and Centennial Trail at the 84th Street trailhead.

Mountlake Terrace: $10,000 for a new gazebo at Bicentennial Park.

Mountlake Terrace: $20,000 for new playground equipment, benches and lighting at Firefighters Memorial Park.

Mukilteo: $55,000 for renovation of the Big Gulch Trail and 92nd Street Park.
