Front porch: Food drive today
Published 6:03 pm Friday, November 1, 2013
An Albertsons store in Mill Creek will host a food drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to support the Volunteers of America Food Bank.
The annual effort is by McKesson Health Care, which sells medicines, medical supplies and health-related information technology. The food drive, to help stock food bank shelves before Thanksgiving, is at the Thomas Lake Albertsons, 3322 132nd St. SE, Mill Creek.
Downtown painting work postponed: This weekend’s closure of the Hewitt Street and Colby Avenue intersection is canceled because weather forecasts predicted winds of up to 45 mph.
As a safety measure, crews will not work on the metal structure overhead and can only perform minor work on nearby sidewalks. The city plans to keep the intersection open to traffic.
The work is scheduled to resume the night of Friday, Nov. 8, weather permitting.
Have your say about park: The Mill Creek Parks and Recreation Board and Community Development and Recreation staff invite the community to an open house Wednesday to see the two conceptual plans created for the city’s newest park in the East Gateway neighborhood.
Stop in any time between 6 and 8 p.m. and share your feedback. The board will consider the input when it makes a recommendation to the City Council. Construction of the new park could begin as early as next spring.
