MOUNT VERNON — A convicted felon has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison for his role in the death of a 4-year old boy who accidentally shot himself.
KOMO-TV reported that Trevor Braymiller, 25, on Friday pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced in Skagit County Superior Court.
Dwayne Kerrigan died last July in a Sedro-Woolley home from a self-inflicted gunshot. Investigators determined Braymiller left the stolen handgun in the home he shared with the boy’s mother in a location where the boy could find it.
Braymiller’s public defender, Kevin Tyne, told the court Braymiller is deeply remorseful.
The judge accepted a 95-month prison sentence recommended by prosecutors and the defense.
Braymiller was previously convicted of possession with intent to deliver and could not legally have a gun.
