Jury-duty scam
Snohomish County government is warning people of a new scam in which callers purport to be collecting money for missed jury duty.
“Don’t fall for it. It’s a scam,” county spokeswoman Rebecca Hover wrote in a news release Tuesday. Roughly a dozen of the calls have reported so far. Some of the scams also have been conducted via email.
Victims are told they must pay a fine to avoid an arrest warrant for failing to appear for jury duty.
Anyone who receives such a call or email should call 911 and then 425-388-3386.
