CHENEY — An Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad train has derailed, blocking Cheney-Spokane Road on the east side of Cheney.
Seven loaded cars of the grain trail derailed early Thursday morning. No injuries were reported.
Road crews have set up a detour.
Bill Wolfe, director of maintenance for the railroad, says reopening the line will probably take two days.
The Spokesman-Review says the Gateway railroad operates on the state-owned Palouse River and Coulee City Railroad line that extends west from Spokane to Almira from Cheney. It also runs south of Cheney.
