Prep Athletes of the Week — March 15 – 21

The athletes of the week are selected by The Herald staff with input from local head coaches.

Terah Barrio

Lakewood | Softball

The senior batted 7-for-8 this past week with a double and three home runs. Two of the home runs led off games for the Cougars. She scored all seven times she reached base and had six runs batted in and three stolen bases to help Lakewood open the season with two victories.

J.T. Troia

Lake Stevens | Baseball

In the junior’s first-ever varsity start, Troia batted 3-for-3 with four RBI in a 12-0 win over Marysville Pilchuck on Friday. Troia’s first at-bat of the season came in Wednesday’s 11-2 win over Edmonds-Woodway, where he hit the go-ahead RBI double making him 4-for-4 on the young season.

Blake Crutchfield

Snohomish | Boys Soccer

Crutchfield scored a goal and had two assists to help the defending 4A state champions come from behind to beat Glacier Peak on Friday. The Panthers finished the week with a 2-0 record.

Chase Reid

Lake Stevens | Boys Track

The senior won the pole vault at the Roy Cockrum Relays in Wenatchee this past weekend, vaulting an even 14 feet.

Wurrie Njadoe

Shorecrest | Girls Track

Njadoe won the 100-meter dash and the long jump this past weekend at the Chuck Randall Relay at Arlington High School.

Ben Thacker

Archbishop Murphy | Boys Golf

Thacker shot an even-par 36 to earn medalist honors and help Archbishop Murphy to a win over Glacier Peak last Tuesday.

Kaitlin Shane

Marysville Getchell | Girls Golf

Shane was the medalist shooting a score of 48 to lead Marysville Getchell over crosstown rival Marysville Pilchuck in a match last Friday.

Tina Liu

Mountlake Terrace | Girls Tennis

The Hawks’ No. 2 singles player went 3-0 last week including Mountlake Terrace’s lone win against Woodinville.

Steele Fosth

Kamiak Lacrosse Club | Boys Lacrosse

Fosth scored seven goals and had two assists to help lead the Kamiak Lacrosse Club to a 25-2 victory over Burlington-Edison this past Friday.

Hannah Graves

Snohomish Lacrosse Club | Girls Lacrosse

Graves had six goals to lead Snohomish to a 16-4 win over Ballard last Wednesday and three goals in a win over Nathan Hale on Thursday.
