Front Porch: Movies at Pilchuck Park

The city of Snohomish is showing the “Goonies” movie at dusk around 9 p.m. on Friday.
It will take place at Pilchuck Park, 169 Cypress Ave.
People can come early for family activities starting at 7 p.m.
New Marysville fire hall delayed: Plans for a new Fire Station 61 — currently housed at 1635 Grove Street — are being put on hold. The project is expected to cost more than $10 million. Officials first want to figure out the future of the Marysville Fire District, according to public meeting minutes. The fire district and the city continue talks of creating a new government agency to provide fire protection and emergency medical services. They have to ask voters to approve the change, called a regional fire authority, with a ballot measure possible for February 2016, according to the minutes.
Crackdown possible on unlicense massages:
New state laws were enacted this month for those who intentionally allow others to practice massage therapy or reflexology without a license.
For example, someone running that business could get a misdemeanor, with steeper penalties for repeated offenses.
The Lynnwood Police Department has asked its City Council to adopt the new rules into city code so officers can begin issuing citations. The discussion is set for Monday, but a decision isn’t expected then.
A police memo says the proposal “ensures a safe environment through rigorous criminal and property law enforcement.”
