Kiwanis delivers Thanksgiving meals
The Kiwanis Club of Lake Stevens held its annual Thanksgiving food delivery event Nov. 21. Over 30 volunteers gathered at Jay’s Market and delivered holiday meals to 20 Lake Stevens homes. The packages each included a turkey, milk and six large bags of groceries.
Besides Kiwanis members and their families, the Lake Stevens High School Key Club and a local Boy Scouts troop also took part.
Scouts retire 36 flags for Veterans Day
Boy Scouts of America 90 retired 36 U.S. flags at First Baptist Church for a Veterans Day service even Nov. 11. Members of Troop 90, Venturing 90 and Girl Scout Troop 53243 retired U.S. flags from local companies, residences and government buildings, including the flag that once flew above the Snohomish County Courthouse. Flags were disposed of according to the U.S. Flag Code guidelines.
Through a generous grant from Pemco Insurance Services, BSA 90 will retire and replace any worn residential U.S. flag in Everett. U.S. and state flags for retirement may be left at 3210 Wetmore Ave.
