Give: Shop nonprofit holiday lists
There’s Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday… And on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, local nonprofits urge holiday shoppers to slow down and also consider giving to needs in their communities.
Among those taking part in a big way is the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation, which supports a variety of local nonprofits. Several projects need funding and will be seeking support on Tuesday, including a veterans service office, Soap Box Derby scholarships, new windows at Pearson House, marching band instruments, and much more. Donors can pick their cause and contribute online all day.
Local events will help further promote the causes. Stop by the Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center any time between 7 a.m. and midnight on Dec. 1 to learn about the different projects in need of funding, drop off a donation for any project, or use one of the computers that will be set up to make online donations. Coffee and muffins will be served from 7 to 9 a.m., a light lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a taco bar from 5 to 7 p.m.
