BELLINGHAM — A 54-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been accused of holding a teenager against his will and beating him for stealing a gun from a home near Lynden.
The Bellingham Herald reported that man and the teen were booked into the Whatcom County jail on investigation of kidnapping, robbery and assault.
According to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office the pair punched, choked and kicked the 17-year-old victim on Sunday. They then had him strip naked, get into a freezer full of rotten food and doused him with a shower hose.
Officials say the abuse was retaliation for the victim stealing a gun from the man’s house. He has been booked into juvenile detention for theft of a firearm and felony possession of a firearm.
