DARRINGTON — A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy pulled a man from a house fire Wednesday night.

The 911 call came in around 10:45 p.m.

The deputy and crews from the Darrington-based fire district were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Givens Avenue.

Arriving first, the deputy found the house full of black smoke and learned a man was still inside, sheriff’s Lt. Scott Parker said.

After breaking windows out of the front of the home, the deputy entered and pulled the man outside. The man was breathing but not conscious and was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Parker said.

The deputy was evaluated for smoke inhalation but was otherwise uninjured.

The fire’s case is being investigated by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal.
