Man jailed in deadly attack, fire at parents’ home

SNOHOMISH — A man accused of stabbing his parents and setting their home on fire has been booked into jail for investigation of murder, assault and arson.

Zachary R. Konicke, 29, is expected in court this week, according to Snohomish County Jail booking records.

He and his father, 58, both were hospitalized after the fire. His father was listed in satisfactory condition Friday.

His mother, 58, is presumed dead. A woman’s body was found in the burned out house.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday had not yet released her name or cause of death. The case is being investigated by major crimes detectives from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. Thursday in the 2500 block of 153rd Avenue SE. That location is off of Dubuque Road in unincorporated Snohomish, northeast of town.
