What: Chamaecyparis obtusa “lemon twist” is a dwarf conifer that will brighten any garden or container. Its foliage resembles twisted golden threads. Branches of this shrub add a real punch to floral arrangements. Commonly called lemon twist hinoki, it is prized for its unique color and texture.
Where: Lemon twist performs well in sun or part shade.
Size: This is a slow grower, so it’s best to purchase a larger shrub. In ten years it will reach 4-feet by 4-feet.
See it: At the WSU Snohomish County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road, Marysville.
