ARLINGTON — After a dramatic rescue from a tree in Bothell, a bald eagle was brought to Sarvey Wildlife Care Center here on Wednesday afternoon. The 10-pound bird had badly injured a talon and had been stuck upside down in the tree for hours.

Sarvey volunteers and firefighters got the eagle down, and another volunteer drove it to the animal hospital, where wildlife rehabilitator Miki Forsberg and intern Faith Stein cleaned the wound. Forsberg gave the eagle shots of painkiller and a solution of water, sugar and electrolytes.

A veterinarian will assess the injury after the eagle has time to rest, said Suzanne West, director of Sarvey. Too much stress could be fatal. West is optimistic the eagle can fully recover and be released back into the wild. Sarvey’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release native wildlife.
