SEATTLE — While law-abiding drivers won’t be able to cross the new State Route 520 floating bridge until April, a suspect fleeing police has taken a private tour of the construction site.
KIRO-FM reported that Bellevue police responded to reports of a shoplifting on Thursday. When officer tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver took off on State Route 520, taking a turn into a construction zone for the new bridge.
Construction workers were forced to jump out of the way as the suspect dodged barriers into the area and led police on a high-speed pursuit across the bridge.
About halfway across the bridge the suspect stopped and fled on foot, leading officer on a 1.5 mile run to the other end of what is touted as the world’s longest floating bridge.
