A tribute: Paying tribute to David Bowie is a way of life for BowieVision.
The celebration of the life and music of David Bowie is April 2 at Nectar.
In the wake of Bowie’s grand exit, the musical mission the band undertook more than two years ago has taken on a deeper significance and an increased urgency. His passing unleashed a yearning on the part of his fans to hear the songs that hold so much meaning for them — played live and loud. With Talking Heads tribute band Life During Wartime and DJ Chrispo.
The show is at Nectar, 412 N. 36th St., Seattle; 206-632-2020; www.nectarlounge.com.
Tickets are $20.
Happy New Bridge! The new 520 bridge celebration is April 2.
Celebrate completion of the world’s longest floating bridge with a 7:30 a.m. run/walk, 10:30 a.m. ribbon cutting, food trucks and exhibits. Closed to cars. Shuttles from Bellevue and UW.

Coming up: To boldly go … See “Star Trek” in an entirely different way at 8 p.m. April 8 at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle. Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage celebrates 50 years of “Star Trek” with some of the best music written for the series of movies and TV shows. The music will be performed by a live symphony orchestra and footage from the series will be shown on a big screen at the same time. Get tickets at www.stgpresents.org.
Check back in A&E next week for our story about Ron Jones, composer and conductor of some of the “Star Trek” tunes, who lives in Stanwood.
