Get fit: Free activities for Healthy Kids
The YMCA Healthy Kids Day is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at local family branches with free games, cooking and safety demonstrations, crafts and tips for being active.
Activities focus on healthy eating, reading, sports, volunteer opportunities and sleep, among other topics designed to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active.

Pamper: A day for women on Camano
A free Women’s Expo is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.
A fashion show by Laurie’s Boutique will give women ideas for putting together a great look, while skin care, makeup vendors and hair stylists will offer tips and services.
There will be fitness, dancing and cooking demonstrations, a martini bar, raffles and lunch available for purchase.

Don’t forget: Mother’s Day is coming up
Edmonds in Bloom hosts its annual Kids Plant for Mom’s Day event, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 7 at the Edmonds Farmer’s Market, on Bell Street north of Fifth Avenue.
Kids can decorate a beach pail with stickers, and then plant it with their choices of blooming annuals — with help from volunteers — for a sweet Mother’s Day gift. A $10 donation is requested.
Other events include a Children’s Fairy Flower Parade starting at noon from the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St., and a chance to make a free Mother’s Day card at C’est La Vie, 320 Fifth Ave.

Cruise: Opening Day of Boating is May 7
The Opening Day of Boating is May 7, highlighted by a boat parade organized by the Mukilteo Yacht Club. More than 30 craft are expected to take part. Local boaters are invited to participate, and the public will be able to watch from many shoreside locations.
A Blessing of the Fleet is set for 11 a.m. at the South Marina Guest Dock 1 at the Port of Everett, followed at noon by the “Under the Sea”-themed parade that will head to the Mukilteo Lighthouse and back (weather permitting). Learn: Find out how to be a better babysitter
Seattle Children’s Hospital offers a “Better Babysitters” class for youth ages 11 to 14, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 7 at the Providence Pavilion for Women and Children, 900 Pacific Ave., Everett. Cost is $45. Registration required by May 4; space is limited.
