LAKE STEVENS — Construction of a new $4.5 million Glover’s Bridge over the Pilchuck River is under way.

Pilchuck River Bridge 581, on 64th Street NE, is in the Lochsloy community between Lake Stevens and Granite Falls.

The roadway and bridge, which was closed for initial work in April, will remain closed to the public until the new bridge is built. Work is expected to wrap up in the fall.

The one-lane bridge built in 1960 connects to Polestar Farms off Highway 92.

The new bridge will remain a single-lane span. A new steel truss design will eliminate the need for intermediate support piers in the river and help to reduce debris accumulation under the bridge.
