Briefs: Snohomish STEM director sought

The Snohomish STEM Education Network is looking for a part-time contractual Director to coordinate all of their activities, projects and materials. Duties include ensuring that the goals and objectives required by the funding sources are met and that all data and records are maintained and submitted as required and securing funding through grant writing and/or other development methods. EdCC hosts on-campus PokéStops

Edmonds Community College has about 10 on-campus or nearby PokéStops to entertain players of Nintendo’s augmented reality game Pokémon Go. The game uses GPS and cellphone cameras to lead players, or Pokémon trainers, to places where virtual creatures called Pokémon could be caught. Players are welcome to visit the campus at 20000 68th Avenue W, Lynnwood, to see what they can catch.

New SBA website aims to help small business owner work with federal government

The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched certify.sba.gov, a new website to further streamline and improve the application processes for small businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to do business with the federal government. The website also integrates with the Women-Owned Small Business Program and will eventually serve additional SBA contracting programs.

Restaurant-lodging association names Kristiansen as ‘Legislative Hero’

Rep. Dan Kristiansen of Snohomish was named a 2016 Legislative Hero by The Washington Restaurant and Washington Lodging Association. The leader of the Republican Caucus in the House was honored as a small business owner who has fought determinedly for issues important to the small businesses and the hospitality industry. He was profiled in the current edition of Washington Restaurant & Lodging Magazine.
