Memorial dedication
A ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday to rededicate a memorial for servicemen from Snohomish who died while defending their country.
The three-piece granite memorial has been installed at Snohomish High School’s Veterans Memorial Stadium. It includes the names of 81 young men. The monument replaces a memorial that had been cracked in two places and could not be repaired.
Each of the names etched in stone will be read aloud. The ceremony will take place before the cross-district football game between Snohomish and Glacier Peak high schools.
Thrift volunteers: Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County seeks volunteers for the New and Again Thrift Shoppe, 3010 Grand Ave., Everett. Cashiers are needed, as well as help with sorting, pricing and more. Volunteers must be able to pass a background check. Training is provided. There is no minimum volunteer requirement — volunteers are welcome to help out as much as they can. More info: Stephanie Civey, stephanie@dvs-snoco.org.
Boating class: The Lake Stevens Police Department plans an “Adventures in Boating” class, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Lake Stevens Educational Service Center, 12309 22nd St. NE. To get their card, students also would need to pass a written test and pay a $10 state fee.
