Briefs: EdCC to kick off celebration of its 50th anniversary

Edmonds Community College is kicking off a year of celebration this week to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The college has served the community since 1967. The community is invited to the event from 4-9 p.m. Friday at Triton Field on the college campus. The event is free and open to the public. Festivities include music, food local food trucks including Chopstix, Street Treats, and Dirty Dog, and drinks from a no host beer and wine garden. Coast Group CEO appointed to Santa Clara University advisory board

Tom Hoban, CEO and co-founder of the Coast Group of commercial real estate companies in Everett and columnist to the Herald Business Journal, was recently appointed to the Santa Clara University Leavey Business School Real Estate Advisory Board in Santa Clara, California. According to Dean Caryn Beck-Dudley, Hoban’s expertise will help the school design a world class real estate program in the Silicon Valley.

Clothing, shoes needed for Clothes for Kids

Non-profit Clothes For Kids has provided school clothes and shoes for 667 low-income local students in just the first week of operation this school year. More donations are badly needed. Biggest needs include new underwear and socks, jeans sizes 6 to 12, plus size clothing for teen girls, donations of new and gently-used clothing, monetary donations and clothing drive volunteers.
