2 arrested in Edmonds after police pursuit, crash

LYNNWOOD — A police pursuit ended in a crash and two arrests in south Snohomish County on Sunday.

The incident started about 2:20 p.m. when a Lynnwood officer spotted a stolen Honda Accord along 196th Street SW, Cmdr. Wes Deppa said. The pursuit went southbound on 76th Avenue W.

The Honda collided with another car near the intersection with Highway 99 in Edmonds. No injuries were reported.

The Honda’s driver, a 45-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. The passenger ran away, and witnesses said he had a handgun.

The passenger was arrested about 3:40 p.m. after he was bit by a police dog along 213th Street SW. His age was not available.

As of late afternoon, police continued to search for the gun, which they believe was tossed while the second man was running.

Both suspects were expected to be booked into jail for investigation of possessing a stolen car. Both also are wanted for questioning in some recent thefts in Lynnwood, Deppa said.
