Oak Harbor man killed in collision near Freeland

WHIDBEY ISLAND — A collision near Freeland left an Oak Harbor man dead Wednesday afternoon.

Richard Clark, 24, was southbound in an Acura Integra on Highway 525 near Cameron Road. Clark reportedly attempted to pass another car on the right-hand shoulder, according to a memo by the Washington State Patrol.

The two cars collided and went into a ditch just before 3:30 p.m.

Clark died at the scene. The other driver, a 65-year-old Clinton man, was unhurt.

Speed was a factor, according to the State Patrol.
