Briefs: Monroe’s Canyon Creek hires supply-chain director

Monroe-headquartered Canyon Creek Cabinet Company has hired Vincent Heslop to be their director of supply chain management. Heslop has more than 25 years of supply-chain-management experience working in a variety of industries. He will attempt to help as the company makes lean manufacturing process improvements.
EvCC holds tours of its advanced manufacturing center
Everett Community College is celebrating National Manufacturing Day with public tours of its Advanced Manufacturing Training & Education Center from 9 a.m. to noon Friday. The center, which opened in 2014, recently expanded, adding eight classrooms and a mechatronics lab. The center is located on EvCC’s north Everett campus at 909 N. Broadway.
Make reservations for Recovery Café fundraiser
Recovery Café Everett, a safe place for men and women to define and pursue healing and recovery, invites community members and local businesses to its second annual fundraising event that is planned for Oct. 29. Space is limited for this evening of food, entertainment, live auction and raffle prizes. Reservations are required by Oct. 10. Deadline extended for Nurse of the Year nominations
The deadline to submit nominations for The March of Dimes’ Washington Nurse of the Year Awards has been extended to Oct. 14. Nomination forms can be found online at www.nurseoftheyear.org/washington. Tax credit available for hiring unemployed veterans
Beginning this month, Washington employers can receive a tax credit for hiring unemployed veterans. The veteran must have been honorably discharged, unemployed for more than 30 days and hired into a full-time position held for at least six months. The program runs between Oct. 1 and June 30, 2022.
