Letter: Time to dump costly, ineffective dispatch system

Published 1:30 am Sunday, October 16, 2016

I see the Everett Fire Department had to scramble into emergency dispatch mode again Sunday afternoon. Several emergency responses were compromised, and normal operations could not be resumed for nearly five hours.

Was this emergency weather related? Hurricane? Tornado? Earthquake?

Sadly the answer is no.

Snohomish County’s multi-million dollar “state-of-the-art” New World emergency dispatch system has failed (again).

Let’s dump this broken system before it costs more money and lives.
