MARYSVILLE — A 17-year-old boy was stabbed five times in Marysville on Sunday and suffered a punctured lung, court records show.

The teen’s injuries may be life-threatening. The stabbing was reported about 4:15 p.m. in a cul-de-sac off 51st Avenue NE.

Officers were told there was a fistfight between the victim and a 14-year-old boy. At some point, a 15-year-old boy jumped into the fight and pulled a knife, according to police.

The 14-year-old and the 15-year-old were booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center in Everett. A third suspect, an 18-year-old woman, also was arrested.

On Monday, the 17-year-old-boy was listed in stable condition at the hospital, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.

The boy reportedly told investigators the suspects were strangers to him.

The 15-year-old boy reportedly has admitted to the stabbing but said he had acted in self-defense, according to a police report. He made his first appearance Monday morning in juvenile court. Superior Court Judge David Kurtz found probable cause to hold the boy for investigation of first-degree assault.

He also was being held for first-degree robbery for an earlier incident. In that case, he is accused of robbing a woman at knifepoint for $40. He later may have purchased THC oil, a potent extract of the marijuana plant, according to a police affidavit.

The 17-year-old had no connection to the earlier robbery, Lamoureux said.

Kurtz set bail for the 15-year-old at $30,000. It must be paid by a parent in cash.

Prosecutors have until Wednesday to file charges.

The 14-year-old also appeared before Kurtz in connection with the stabbing. The judge found probable cause to hold the boy for investigation of fourth-degree assault. His bail was set at $250.

The third suspect, an 18-year-old Tulalip woman, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. She, along with the 14-year-old boy, is accused of tackling the victim, according to court papers. She reportedly told detectives she did not remember anything about what happened. She also is accused of taking part in the earlier robbery. Additional arrests are not expected, according to police.

In court on Monday, the woman’s lawyer asked a judge to release her. The lawyer argued that the woman was a witness and not a participant in the violence. Everett District Court Judge Tam Bui said she was concerned about the tackling allegation and set bail at $25,000. Bui said the woman recently had been warned by another local judge to stay out of trouble. She told the woman to rethink her choice of friends.

“I don’t know what’s going on here,” Bui told the woman. “You’re awfully young.”
