Briefs: Sleep Train hosts Toy Drive for Foster Kids

Sleep Train is hosting its annual Toy Drive for Foster Kids and #SleepTrainSecretSanta Photo Contest through Dec. 18. Gifts are needed for all ages, including teens. The most requested items include sporting equipment, arts and crafts supplies, baby dolls, superhero figurines, electronics and gift cards. SBA announces $300,000 funding for women-, veteran-owned businesses

State retail sales tax jumps year over year
Washington state’s taxable retail sales reached $36.8 billion in the second quarter of 2016, an increase of 8.6 percent over the same quarter in 2015, according to the Washington State Department of Revenue. Retail trade rose nearly 5.2 percent to a total of $15.8 billion. Snohomish County’s taxable retail sales reached $3.39 billion with retail trade at $1.79 billion.
