EDMONDS — Worshippers from local churches are planning to come together Wednesday for a night of song and prayer called “Edmonds Gives Thanks.”
Anyone’s welcome to attend the free service at Edmonds Center for the Arts at the corner of Fourth Avenue North and Daley Street. Nearly a dozen churches of various denominations are joining in.
“The theme of the night, because it’s the night before Thanksgiving, is to be thankful to God for the blessings upon us,” said Pastor Brian Boone from Community Christian Fellowship.
Expect songs and prayers as the service begins at 7 p.m. Some of the best musicians from the congregations plan to perform a mix of hymns and contemporary praise songs.
The service won’t have a feel of any one particular church, but aims, in Boone’s words, for a “broad and unified appeal.”
“Last year was our first time,” he said. “It went really well.”
Boone cited 1 Chronicles 16:34 to sum up the spirit of the evening: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Participating churches include: Ascension Presbyterian Church, Calvary Chapel Edmonds, Community Christian Fellowship, Edgewood Baptist Church, Edmonds Open Bible Church, Faith Community Church, Holy Trinity Edmonds, Mosiac Community Church, North Sound Church, Rock of Hope Baptist Church and Westgate Chapel.
