Yet another water main breaks in Everett

EVERETT — Another water main in Everett broke Thursday morning at about 8:45 a.m.
The 6-inch cast iron main in the 2900 block of Grand Avenue, between Hewitt and Wall Streets, dates from 1952.
That’s a vintage of pipe that has been the culprit in nine previous breakages since Jan. 1. The city has 33 miles of cast iron pipe in its 415-mile system that dates from the postwar period.
No water damage was reported, and five utility customers were without water while the city repaired the pipe. Water service was restored by 1 a.m.
