ARLINGTON — An Edmonds man was arrested Friday in connection with a reported rape earlier this month.

Abdulaziz Abdirahman Mohamed, 27, allegedly drove a car while another man attacked a woman in the backseat, according to a probable cause affidavit. He was booked for investigation of kidnapping and rape in the first degree.

There is no allegation in court papers that he had sexual contact with the woman.

Mohamed and Jerry G. Wood, 40, met the woman at a bar in Shoreline. They allegedly offered her a ride back to her home in south Snohomish County. They reportedly passed her home and kept driving before parking in a rural neighborhood north of Arlington.

Wood, a convicted sex offender, is being held on $1 million bail for investigation of rape.

Mohamed denied witnessing any crimes. Police said it is unlikely that he was unaware of the alleged attack that would have occurred a few feet away from him in the vehicle.

He has previously spent time in jail for unrelated offenses, and was most recently released in September.
