EVERETT — A pair of security drills in the coming weeks at Naval Station Everett will include the use of blank rounds and an increased police presence along the waterfront.
The station is taking part in an extended annual security exercise taking place across the country. Local residents may see or hear the increased activity at the base during the drills.
The base’s gates will be closed during the drills, which will occur from 9 a.m.-noon on Wednesday and Feb. 8.
The Navy is taking other measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding neighborhoods, but there may be increased traffic near the base and delays for people wanting to enter.
