Lynnwood violinist a national finalist

Shintaro Taneda, a Lynnwood High School sophomore, will travel to Baltimore, Maryland, in March as a National Finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Senior Performance String Competition.
He is the only local musician to be named a finalist in any of the music competition’s divisions.
Taneda has studied violin for nine years. He earlier appeared as a soloist with the Seattle Festival Orchestra, Bainbridge Symphony, and Cascade Symphony. He also has played with the Aspen Philharmonic, NAFME All-Northwest High School Symphony, and Seattle Youth Symphony. He attended Meadowmount camp and Aspen Music Festival, and he studies under Simon James.
