YMCA fundraiser
The Y-Community is a program of the YMCA of Everett that serves low-income families who are homeless or living in emergency or transitional housing. The program offers memberships, field trips, and resources such as clothing. The program helped more than 500 families in 2016.
Y-Community is run by donations. A fundraiser is under way. Sale items include Valentine’s Day-themed jars and glasses filled with sweets for $6, rubber bracelets that say “We Love Our Community” for $3, and haircuts from a licensed barber for $10. Money for Ballinger Park: Snohomish County has announced $100,000 in funding for improvements at Ballinger Park in Mountlake Terrace, including the dock and walkways. The city and Girl Scouts also plan to build a trail in Bicentennial Park.
Dog park opener: Lynnwood celebrates the grand opening of the Lynndale Park Off-Leash Dog Area with a celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday. Enter at the Skate Park to the upper parking lot at 7326 Olympic View Drive.
The new dog area includes two enclosed pens, including one for shy dogs, as well as agility stations and a pet drinking fountain. More info: www.lynnwoodwa.gov.
