EVERETT — Detectives are continuing to investigate what led up to gunfire along a stretch of Fourth Avenue West in Everett on Sunday.

A man braked for a red light at the intersection where Fourth meets SW Everett Mall Way around 5 p.m. Two men pulled up in a white car in the adjacent lane, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.

When the traffic light turned green, both cars headed north.

The white car quickly pulled behind the man. A passenger reportedly began shooting out of a window at the man, Snell said.

The victim allegedly fired his gun back. He had a license to carry a pistol, Snell said.

No one was hurt.

The victim told officers he didn’t know the two men, Snell said Thursday. Police are searching for them. Multiple shell casings were found in the area.

Detectives do not believe the shooting was gang-related, Snell said. Anyone with information is asked to call them 425-257-8450.
