Meet police

The Granite Falls police and fire departments plan a “Coffee with the Chief” event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The location is the downtown fire station, 116 S. Granite Ave.

Arlington police also plan a similar gathering, called “Conversations with Cops” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Arlington Municipal Airport.

Another Arlington event is scheduled for 5 p.m. March 20 at the Starbucks at 3671 172nd St. NE in Smokey Point.

New field: A ribbon-cutting is planned at 3 p.m. Tuesday for the new baseball field at Monroe High School. The home opener game will follow.

Learn road, fire plans: Lynnwood’s transportation benefit district, which levies taxes, plans to meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Topics include pavement conditions and whether to host a public hearing on vehicle licensing fees.

The location is City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W.

The regular City Council work session will follow and include talk about the future of the Lynnwood Fire Department.

Scholarships in Stanwood: The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation is offering scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Monday. No late applications are accepted.

The foundation is a nonprofit that supports community efforts in Stanwood and on the island.
