Council meeting

The Snohomish County Council is preparing to meet at 6 p.m. March 20 in Edmonds City Council Chambers. The meeting complies with a county charter amendment that voters approved in November to schedule at least one evening meeting every year in each of the five geographical council districts. The County Council typically meets during the daytime in a county administrative building in Everett. The address for the Edmonds meeting is 250 Fifth Ave N.

Gardening book sale: The Friends of the Arlington Library hosts its monthly book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the lobby of the library at 135 N Washington Ave. This month’s theme is gardening. A piece of artwork, “Garden Girl,” donated by a local artist, is included in a door prize basket. All proceeds support the Arlington Library.

Disaster survival workshop: The city of Mill Creek is planning a workshop that will cover the first nine steps a person should take during a disaster. The class is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 29 at Mill Creek City Hall South, 15728 Main Street. The city plans to offer additional workshops May 17, July 26 and Oct. 4.
