Early Monroe

The Monroe Historical Society plans its annual meeting, election of officers and spring program, 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Monroe Library, 1070 Village Way. “Early Monroe” author Dexter Taylor will present a slide show and journey back in time to the late 1960s and ’70s when Monroe was a small town of 2,700 and you could just about see from one end of town to the other. Everett newsletter: The city of Everett has launched a new monthly email newsletter. Each dispatch includes information about upcoming meetings and events, along with updates to major projects. To sign up, go to everettwa.gov/notifyme and select “City of Everett newsletter.”

Civic engagement class: A free class on civic engagement and leadership is being offered at Everett Community College. The course, held by the Parent Leadership Training Institute, is geared toward offering ways to take a more active role in local government and schools.
