Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org or 425-774-9600, option 3. “Leaving Iowa” will be staged March 23 through April 2. When a middle-aged writer finds the intended burial place for his father’s ashes has turned into a grocery store, he embarks on one last father-son road trip in search of the perfect resting place in this hilarious and touching comedy. Directed by Eric Bischoff, the cast includes Christin Fenzel, Robert Hankins, Rebecca Parker O’Neil, bonnie Ronan, Justin Tinsley and James Lee Wilson. “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a musical comedy, will be staged April 28 through May 14.
Red Curtain: Red Curtain Arts Center, a nonprofit arts education organization, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school). Directed by Zoaunne LeRoy, the cast includes David Persson, Rebecca Erickson and Pamela Tobiason.

“Always…Patsy Cline”: This Theatre Arts Guild show with Ria Peth Vanderpool and Kelly Visten as Patsy Cline and Louise Seger, respectively, plays at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through April 1 at the Conway Muse, 18444 Spruce St. Call 360-445-3000; conwaymuse.com. Comedy
“You Just Gotta Laugh”: This fundraiser for the Historic Everett Theatre Preservation Society is 7:30 p.m. March 17 at the theater, 2911 Colby Ave. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All proceeds go to the upkeep of the theater. The evening features comedian Chris Bliss, whose credits include the “Tonight Show” and “Late Show” with David Letterman, and Kermit Apio, an award-winning regional comedian. Call 425-258-6766.
Everett High’s The Gull-A-Bulls: The comedy improv group performs at 7 p.m. March 17 at Cafe Zippy, 1502 Rucker Ave., Everett. Admission by donation.
Youth theater

Everett High School: Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” will be performed at 7 p.m. April 14, 15, 21, 22, and 2:30 p.m. April 15 and 22 at Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave. General admission is $12; kids, seniors and ASB for $8.
Snohomish High School: “Les Miserables” will be performed May 4-14 in the school’s performance art center, 1316 Fifth St. In the meantime, students in the school’s theater club are encouraging community members to volunteer to help produce the musical. Opera
Cinderella in Spain: Seattle Opera visits the Marysville Opera House to perform this operetta at 2 p.m. March 25, 1225 Third St. Admission is free, but reservations are required. Call 360-363-8400. This deceptively simple story is about the beauty of kindness, the power of compassion and the ugliness of mistreating others. Set in the city of Barcelona, it provides a lively, modern-day bilingual backdrop. The performance is hosted by the city of Marysville and the Marysville Library, with funding by the Gellerson Memorial Programming. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
