Bradford Loomis of The Banner Days duo to release new solo album

Singer-songwriter and guitarist Bradford Loomis, known for his work with Beth Whitney in their Banner Days duo, has a new recording out today.

The Marysville native will celebrate the release of his album “Bravery and the Bell” at a concert Saturday evening at the Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater in Snohomish.

On his website, Loomis said the album is about being courageous in the face of trials.

Loomis’ father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease not long ago.

“As the shock and devastation wore off,” Loomis said in a note to the Herald, “the need to be doing something set in. That prompted some serious reflection about the lineage we are born into and that which we pass on. Whether burdened or buoyed by our generational inheritance, this album confronts the drudgery of simply surviving, and sounds a call to stand up to the things that stand in the way of us truly, passionately, pursuing that which we were made to be.”

Loomis lists his influences as Chris Stapleton, the Swell Season, Johnny Cash and T-Bone Burnett. Loomis, who loves history, tells stories — with melody and grit — that he describes as digging deep into American folklore.
